HMDD

HMDD stands for Happy Memories Don’t Die. The phrase is printed in full across some pieces and cut to four letters on the rest, and the name is literal — brothers Jack and Jyde Manson started the label in Los Angeles in 2019 in memory of a cousin they lost. It made the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for ecommerce in 2025.

What HMDD makes

Heritage sportswear and moto references rather than logos. Radio-station and concert-poster artwork, collegiate and gothic type, a winged HMDD mark, a cross logo, and the CHIM lettering that runs through the whole range.

The blanks are the point

More than most brands at this price, HMDD spends its money on the garment itself, and it prints the spec on its own size guides.

• Potassium sprayed and hand distressed, so colour reads faded rather than flat

T-shirts

Ringer tees with contrast trim, slub cotton tees with a textured surface, ribbed tanks, sleeveless cutoffs and pique polos. Graphics run from CHIM 97.5 FM box logos and SOUL JAM poster panels to the plain-spoken ones printed small at the hem.

Shorts

Three distinct cuts. Mesh basketball shorts with contrast side panels, ripstop nylon 3/4 shorts with mesh linings and a winged logo down the leg, and lighter mesh shorts with drawcords through metal eyelets.

Hoodies and sweatpants

Full-zips cut cropped and boxy, with gothic lettering split by the zip and crackle prints that break up as they wear. Many were released as sets with a matching sweatpant, and we keep those next to each other here.

Hats, socks and bags

The cheapest way into the brand and usually the first thing gone. Trucker and waxed cotton caps, ribbed crew socks, backpacks and toiletry bags.

Sizing and fit

S to XXL throughout, cut unisex, and HMDD names its patterns — you will see V3 Fit or Beach Zip Up Fit printed on the size guide.

• Tops are cropped and boxy, which the brand states outright on its guides. Size up if you want length rather than the cropped look.
• Bottoms are baggy — sweatpants and shorts are cut wide and loose. Take your usual size.
• A Large tee measures 28 inches pit to pit by 24.25 long.
• A Large zip hoodie measures 31 inches chest with a 20.5 inch sleeve. Note that the hoodie guide lists chest and sleeve rather than chest and body length.
• Shorts run roughly 30 to 38 inches on the waist.
