GV stands for GOLD+VINTAGE. Raspberry Hills is the graphic that broke the brand out — it runs across the cargo pants, cargo shorts and hoodies that got it noticed, and it caught on far enough that a lot of people now use it as the brand name by mistake. Same label either way.

What GV Gallery makes

A Los Angeles label whose team has stayed anonymous by choice. It works in a referential lane, pulling from Oakley, adidas, Evisu and Balenciaga, and puts oversized cut-and-sew silhouettes at a price well below the labels it references. The stated ethos is that imperfection is beauty, which shows up in the washes, the contrast stitching and the deliberately uneven finishes.

The marks to look for

• RASPBERRY ATHLETICS and RASPBERRY BASKETBALL arched collegiate prints
• BERRY GYM gold circular hip prints with a dumbbell
• RASP logos embroidered on the caps
• ST. BERRY H.S. 1939 with a bulldog mascot

Most are screen printed rather than embroidered, sometimes run straight over the seams.

Sweatpants and pants

The piece the label sells most of. Washed fleece cut wide in a barrel leg rather than a tapered sweat, with elastic waists and cuffs, alongside cargos and dark indigo wide straight-leg jeans with contrast orange stitching.

Pullovers with arched collegiate chest prints, full-zips with branded metal pulls and taped zips, and half-zips with structured polo collars. Boxy and wide through the body with deep hoods.

The GV Yard backpack

The one piece that sits apart from the rest of the range. GV Yard is a leather backpack made in very small numbers, and the name is the joke — the build and the monogram treatment take their cue from Goyard. It is the hardest GV Gallery piece to get hold of and rarely stays in stock long.

Thermals and hats

Thermals are waffle-knit in white and heather grey, printed small at the chest and large across the upper back. The caps are where the label puts its most detailed work: flat-brim snapbacks with photo-panel crowns, and washed twill six-panels with winged patches and antique brass buckles.

• Hoodies are boxy — a Large runs around 31.5 inches chest by 25.3 long.
• Sweatpants measure roughly 28 to 38 inches on the elastic waist.
