HMDD stands for Happy Memories Don't Die. Brothers Jack and Jyde Manson started it in Los Angeles in 2019, named for a cousin they lost, and it made the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for ecommerce in 2025.
Two things people ask before buying: when it drops, and how it fits. Here are both.
When does HMDD drop?
HMDD drops across Friday and Saturday, in three stages. Chim Pass members get in first on Friday at 1pm ET, SMS subscribers on Saturday at 1pm ET, and the public drop is Saturday at 3pm ET.
| Access | Day | Time (ET) |
|---|---|---|
| Chim Pass members | Friday | 1:00pm |
| SMS subscribers | Saturday | 1:00pm |
| Public drop | Saturday | 3:00pm |
All times are US Eastern.
What is the Chim Pass?
A paid monthly subscription that gets you into the drop a full day before everyone else. It exists because HMDD releases in genuinely limited numbers and the good pieces sell out fast — the pass is the brand's way of rewarding the people who buy every time.
If a colourway you want is popular, realistically it may be gone before the Saturday public drop opens. That is the whole reason the tier exists.
The site closes after a drop
HMDD takes its store offline a few days after each drop. This is not a sellout — the site itself shuts. If you are waiting to think it over, the window closes on you.
They do not drop every week
Drop frequency depends on where the brand is in a collection. Some weeks there is nothing at all. Following HMDD on social media is the most reliable way to know when the next one lands, since the schedule above is the pattern rather than a guarantee.
If you miss a drop, we hold stock from previous ones — see our HMDD collection.
Do HMDD t-shirts run true to size?
They run short and wide. HMDD prints "slightly cropped and boxy fit" on its own tee guides, so this is intended rather than a sizing quirk. Take your usual size for that look, or one up for standard length.
This is the measured guide from an HMDD slub tee:
| Size | Pit to pit | Length |
|---|---|---|
| Small | 26" | 23.25" |
| Medium | 27" | 23.75" |
| Large | 28" | 24.25" |
| X-Large | 29" | 24.75" |
| XX-Large | 30.5" | 25.25" |
A Large is 28 inches across and 24.25 long. A standard large tee runs about 22 across and 29.5 long, so this is six inches wider and five inches shorter. That is a bigger gap than almost anything else we carry.
The width grows a full inch per size while the length grows only half an inch. Sizing up gets you width roughly twice as fast as length, so going up to fix a short hem costs you a lot of breadth.
How do HMDD zip hoodies fit?
Read this before you order one. The HMDD zip hoodie guide lists chest and sleeve length — there is no body length column at all. The second number is the sleeve, not the length. It is very easy to read 20.5 as a body measurement and panic.
| Size | Chest | Sleeve length |
|---|---|---|
| Small | 29" | 20" |
| Medium | 30" | 20.25" |
| Large | 31" | 20.5" |
| X-Large | 32" | 20.75" |
| XX-Large | 33" | 21" |
The chest grows an inch per size and the sleeve grows a quarter inch. So on a zip hoodie, sizing up is almost entirely a width decision — you gain very little arm length.
The guide also states the fit outright: cropped and boxy fit, on 16oz Supima cotton, potassium sprayed with a crackle print.
What is a "V3 Fit" or a "Beach Zip Up Fit"?
HMDD names its blocks and prints the name on the size guide. V3 Fit and Beach Zip Up Fit are pattern names, not marketing.
This matters practically: two HMDD pieces in the same size can be cut on different blocks. If one tee says V3 Fit and another does not, they are not guaranteed to measure the same. Check the guide on the specific product rather than assuming your HMDD size transfers across the range.
You will also see a line reading "A NEED NOT A WANT." on the guides. That is the brand's own tagline, not a fit instruction.
What the construction spec actually tells you
HMDD lists its build on the size guide, and each line has a practical consequence.
- 7oz slub cotton on the lighter tees — textured and uneven by design, so the surface is not smooth.
- 16oz Supima on the heaviest zip hoodies — genuinely heavy, and it holds its shape rather than draping.
- Single stitched sleeves — a vintage construction detail rather than the usual double stitch.
- Potassium sprayed and hand distressed — the colour is faded before it ships, and no two pieces in a colourway come out identical.
- Crackle print — the print is designed to break up as it wears. That is the intended finish, not a fault.
How do HMDD sweatpants and shorts fit?
Baggy. Sweatpants are cut wide and loose through the thigh and leg, and the shorts follow the same idea. Take your usual size — sizing up on something already this roomy is how people end up sending things back.
Waists run roughly 30 to 38 inches on the elastic across S to XXL. The bottoms are the opposite of the tops: where a tee is short and wide, the pants are long and full.
The shorts come in three quite different cuts, and the inseam is the number that separates them:
- Mesh basketball shorts — around an 8 inch inseam, roomy through the leg.
- Ripstop 3/4 shorts — around 16 inches, so they cover the knee. A completely different garment despite both being called shorts.
- Mesh and sweat shorts — lighter, drawcord through metal eyelets.
Most sweatpants were released as the bottom half of a set. Where a hoodie and sweatpant share a colourway, take the same size in both.
How should I wash HMDD?
Cold, inside out, hang dry. Two specific reasons beyond the usual: the potassium spray finish is a controlled fade, and heat will keep fading it unevenly; and the crackle prints are engineered to break up gradually, which a dryer turns into cracking all at once.
How to get your size right
- Check which columns the guide shows. Tees give pit to pit and length. Zip hoodies give chest and sleeve. They are not the same pair of numbers.
- Check the fit name. V3, Beach Zip Up, or none stated.
- Measure a tee you already own flat, armpit to armpit and shoulder to hem.
- Compare like for like. If your favourite tee is 22 across and 29 long, an HMDD Large at 28 by 24.25 is six wider and five shorter.
Where to buy HMDD
Everything we carry is bought either direct from the brand or from a partner who sources directly from the brand, so every piece traces back to the source. If anything about a supplier looks off, we do not buy it — our reputation is worth more than any single order. It ships from our own stock here in the US.
If you wear HMDD, the closest things we stock are Vale Forever, GV Gallery and Godspeed.
