Hellstar is the Los Angeles label founded by Sean Holland, and it went from a small run of graphic tees to one of the most requested names in streetwear in about four years. The brand marks itself Hellstar, Hstar and HS depending on the piece, and Hellstar Studios turns up on some of the tags — all the same label.

What Hellstar makes

Cracked, distressed print work is the house signature. Graphics come out looking weathered rather than crisp, which is deliberate, and the recurring devices are the star, the flame, tribal lettering and religious imagery — Holy Cross, 2 Lambs Holy State, Have Faith In Me, Jesus, Mercy, Raise Hell, Hear No Evil. The Sports Logo and XXL Athletics runs are the collegiate side of the range.

T-shirts

The deepest part of the collection and where most people start. Big Print HS Sports, NY and LA Tribal Sports, Flame Tribal Motion, Cracked Logo, Star Family, Records, Camo Sports Logo, and the rhinestone Classic Logo tee in pink. Sleeveless cuts like the Inner Peace Skeleton sit in the same run.

Footwear

Hellstar's adidas work is the reason a lot of people find the brand — Superstar in black and white flame, Superstar II in cream and hazy orange, the Megaride, and the Adizero Electric II football cleats. Alongside those sit the brand's own slides in logo, Hstar, camo and cheetah print.

All of it also appears in slides and clogs and cleats.

The tag on the garment
