Collection: Gallery Dept

Gallery Dept

Gallery Dept is Josué Thomas's Los Angeles studio, and the word studio is doing real work in that sentence — the pieces are finished by hand, so the paint splatter, the bleach and the distressing land differently on every one. Two garments in the same colourway are not the same garment.

The logo families

  • French logo — the wide serif lettering, on tees, hoodies and sweatpants
  • Souvenir logo — the tourist-print treatment, in olive, black and orange camo
  • 90s logo — on the zip hoodies in vintage teal, black and royal blue yellow
  • Gothic logo — the blackletter version, tee and hoodie
  • Boardwalk and Dusty Glittered — the outliers of the print range

Paint-splattered hoodies

The piece the brand is known for. Washed navy, vintage black and light heather grey pullovers with the logo underneath and the splatter applied over the top by hand. Because the finishing is manual, the splatter pattern on the one you receive is its own.

T-shirts and long sleeves

French and French Collector camo tees, Souvenir logo tees, the navy Boardwalk, the black Gothic, and the mixed camo long sleeve. Blanks are washed rather than bright.

Studio gym shorts

Black, red and blue, cut short and roomy with the studio branding — the most wearable everyday piece in the range.

Sweatpants

Green camo French and black French logo pairs, both cut relaxed to sit with the hoodies.

Sizing and fit

Sizes run S to XXL, cut oversized — Gallery Dept cuts wider and longer than most of the brands on this site, and the hoodies especially. If you are between sizes and do not want a very loose fit, take the smaller one. Every product page carries the measured chart in inches.

Where this stock comes from

Everything we carry is bought either direct from the brand or from a partner who sources directly from the brand, so every piece traces back to the source. It ships from our own stock here in the US.

FAQ

Who founded Gallery Dept?
Josué Thomas, in Los Angeles.

Why does the paint splatter look different in the photos?
Because it is applied by hand. The pattern varies piece to piece, and that is the point rather than a defect.

Does Gallery Dept run big?
Yes. The cut is oversized, particularly on hoodies. Size down if you want a normal fit.

What is the difference between French and Souvenir?
Two different logo treatments — French is the wide serif lettering, Souvenir is the tourist-print style.

Is it real?
Everything we sell is bought direct from the brand or from a partner who sources directly from the brand, so it traces back to the source either way.
